Built to Last~

I've been listening to the song so many times in these few days, that I've actually wondered what it means to built to last. How many things in this world are actually built to last? Civilizations rise and fall, mountains get weathered down, machines degenerate, people come and go, relationships get broken down etc etc etc. There is nothing on this earth that is built to last. I think the fundamental meaning of the phrase does not impy that there is something that is indestructible or immortal, rather there is a way to make entities last, by changing and adapting to its current nature, it will be able to last. For example, in the context of a relationship, the only way to last is to change to suit and fulfil the requirements of the relationship, because the relationship isn't a static one, but a dyamic and vibrant entity. However, if one chooses to remain in an intertial state and not to move rectilinearly with the entities around him, then nothing around him will be built to last. In essence, there is only 1 thing is this world that is built to last, and it is independent of all variables: God's love, it endures forever and stretches from the east to the west, one scarred hand to the other.
